It was a long weekend as we attended the Class “A” Tournament in Pittsburgh, PA.  We left early Friday morning so we could get there in time for the Creative/Xtreme Competition Friday night.  Competition was unbelievable.  Following competition was High Rank Testing with Grand Master In Ho Lee as the head Judge.  Over 50 high ranks tested, re-tested or did a required mid-term.

Saturday morning competition kicked off at 7:45 and continued until 8:30pm when Team Sparring and Team Combat concluded! It was a long day but with 20 rings of competition running all day, 982 competitors got to compete.  This is the LARGEST Tournament on the East Coast.  The closest tournament to compete with these numbers: Fall Nationals in Orlando, FL, which is a Class “AA” tournament with 1,500-2,200 competitors.

Sunday morning we attended the Town Hall Meeting with the CEO of ATA. He talked about where the ATA was heading in the upcoming years.  It was also an opportunity for those of us in  attendance to ask questions and discuss what matters to us.

We were finally on the road to head home around noon.  All in All it was a great weekend.  Now we are getting ready for our Rank Advancement this week and the Last Tournament of the current season coming up on April 7 in Freehold, NJ.
